Frequently Asked Questions

Planning your hunting safari with Intaba Safaris is the first step toward a refined and unforgettable African experience. From your initial enquiry, our team works closely with you to understand your hunting goals, preferred species, group size, and ideal length of stay, allowing us to design a fully bespoke safari tailored to your vision.

Each safari is carefully crafted around your expectations, pace, and experience level, whether it is your first hunt in Africa or a return to a long-standing passion. Non-hunting guests are equally well catered for, with optional excursions including Addo Elephant National Park and the historic town of Grahamstown.

Due to the exclusive nature of our outfitting service and limited availability, early booking is strongly recommended.

Our primary hunting season runs from April through September, with assistance available outside of these months upon request.

Your African hunting adventure begins with a conversation, let Intaba Safaris curate a journey defined by excellence, authenticity, and lasting memories.

Things to consider before your Intaba Safari Experience

Travel + Booking

Guests are responsible for arranging and paying for all international and domestic flights to and from South Africa. International arrivals clear customs at either Johannesburg (OR Tambo) or Cape Town International Airport before connecting to Port Elizabeth, our preferred arrival airport. Upon arrival in Port Elizabeth, guests are personally met by our team and transferred to the lodge, with return transfers provided at the conclusion of the safari.

Safari experiences can be selected from our curated Hunting Packages List, allowing you to choose the option best suited to your goals. A deposit of $500 (USD) secures your booking and confirms your place on safari. Please notify us once flights are confirmed so we can finalise all arrangements.

Rates may vary throughout the year due to exchange rate fluctuations. To secure a fixed and favourable rate, early payment is strongly recommended.

Documentation + Entry Requirements

Most nationalities do not require a visa to enter South Africa. A valid passport with a minimum of two blank pages is required for entry. Guests intending to hire a vehicle must carry a current driver’s licence along with their passport.

Hunters travelling with their own firearms will be issued a temporary import permit by South African Customs on arrival; our team will gladly assist with this process. Firearms are also available for hire, with ammunition used during the hunt included in the hire fee.

Health + Safety

Our hunting areas are located in malaria-free and bilharzia-free regions, and no vaccinations are required. Guests are advised to carry valid health and travel insurance for the duration of their stay and to bring any prescribed medication they may require.

The water at our lodge is safe for drinking, ensuring a comfortable and worry-free experience throughout your safari.

Money & General Costs

You may need to exchange some foreign currency upon arrival for tipping and personal spending, although credit cards are widely accepted throughout South Africa.

Airports & Transfers

nternational arrivals clear customs at Johannesburg (OR Tambo) or Cape Town International Airport before connecting to Port Elizabeth, where guests are personally met by our team and transferred to the lodge, with return transfers provided after the safari.

Hunting Conditions + Equipment
Our safaris are conducted year-round, with optimal conditions from April to September during the cooler winter months. Hunts combine 4×4 tracking with traditional walk-and-stalk methods for an authentic experience. Game harvested may be featured in our evening meals around the boma fire. Please consult our Packing List to ensure you have everything needed for your trip.
